Milwaukee Manufacturing Sector on the Rebound

Sixty-one of the nation’s 100 biggest metropolitan areas, including Milwaukee, gained manufacturing jobs during the past year, according to new data.

The Milwaukee area gained 4,800 production jobs between August 2010 and August 2011.

Detroit is the biggest winner, adding 14,100 jobs to its manufacturing base. The only other market above the 10,000 mark is Houston, which picked up 11,600 manufacturing positions.

Tulsa also deserves mention, since its year-to-year gain of 11.6 percent is the biggest manufacturing upswing in percentage terms.

Thirty-four metros suffered declines in manufacturing employment, and the remaining five markets did not change.

Wisconsin loses 800 jobs in August

Wisconsin lost an estimated 800 private-sector jobs last month while the unemployment rate ticked higher to 7.9% from 7.8%, prompting Gov. Scott Walker to announce a three-city state tour “to listen to the concerns of job creators.”

Job losses also continued in the local government sector, which includes schools as well as city halls and county agencies across the state. Those entities lost an estimated 1,800 jobs.

Including all public and private sectors, the state lost a net 2,300 non-farm jobs in the one-month period, adjusted for seasonal factors. Read the rest of this entry »

YOUR ANODIZING SOURCE

Our anodizing processes provide superior finishes for our manufacturing partners. In addition we can provide extruders and other fabricators with anodizing services for their products.

Anodizing occurs within the aluminum, becoming an integral part of the surface. An anodized surface is durable, it does not peel and it’s resistant to corrosion. Anodizing prevents further oxidization from occurring and therefore extends the life of the product.
